Duane Sands, a cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon, was born in Nassau to Basil and Roberta Sands. He was educated at St. Anne’s High School in Nassau, Cheshire Academy in Connecticut and Tufts University in Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
After obtaining his Doctor of Medicine degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Maryland in 1986, and completing his residency in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Wayne State University in Michigan in 1994, Dr. Sands returned home and began serving the Bahamian people as a consultant physician at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH).
He has served as Director of Accident and Emergency at PMH, and then as the Hospital’s Chief of Surgery. He also practices at Doctors Hospital and the Cardiothoracic and Vascular Institute of the Bahamas Ltd.
Duane served as Chairman of The Bahamas Mortgage Corporation between 2011 and 2012 and is a former Chairman of the Bahamas Medical Council and Director of the Central Bank of the Bahamas. He previously served as Director of the Public Hospitals Authority, Vice President of Medical Affairs and Member of the Board of Directors of Doctors Hospital and Director of Physicians Alliance Ltd.
Duane was the FNM candidate for the Elizabeth Constituency in the 2012 General Election and he was appointed and named Bahamas Minister of Health in 2016.

After completing his medical degree, Dr. Curling completed his secondary training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Here Dr. Curling completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology and oncology. Dr. Curling is board certified in internal medicine, hematology and oncology.
After completing his training in 2004, Dr. Curling returned to Nassau where he became a consultant in hematology and medical oncology with the Public Hospitals Authority (PHA). He also joined the practice of Oncology Consultants, Ltd., becoming a partner with Dr. Turnquest. Additionally, Dr. Curling obtained medical privileges at Doctors Hospital.

During his time as consultant at PHA, Dr. Curling has also been appointed Acting Director of the Division of Oncology. Her formative school years were spent at Queen’s College High School and after graduating from high school and completing her studies at The College of The Bahamas, Dr. Parker went on to attain an Honours Degree in Biology & Psychology from McMaster University, in Canada, where she graduated Suma Cum Laude. Dr. Parker was thereafter accepted into the Medical Programme at The University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, where the foundations of her medical education were laid. After completing the pre-clinical years in Jamaica, she transferred to The University of The West Indies School of Clinical Medicine and Research in Nassau. It was this training that paved the way for her future achievements. Dr. Parker-Curling is the only full-time Endocrinologist currently practicing in The Bahamas.

After working as Staff Pharmacist for almost 15 years with Rite Aid, Dr. Patel concentrated his efforts on improving community pharmacy and became an independent pharmacy owner. Bethelview Pharmacy opened its doors in 2015, in Cumming, GA. and there Dr. Patel managed pharmacy operations, advised customers on selction of best medication, compounded and dispensed Rx medication and provided specialized services to help patients manage their conditions.
Dr. Patel lives and enjoys spending most of his time with family and friends at his hometown in the outskirts of Atlanta, GA.

After working as Staff Pharmacist for almost 15 years with Rite Aid, Dr. Patel concentrated his efforts on improving community pharmacy and became an independent pharmacy owner. Bethelview Pharmacy opened its doors in 2015, in Cumming, GA. and there Dr. Patel managed pharmacy operations, advised customers on selction of best medication, compounded and dispensed Rx medication and provided specialized services to help patients manage their conditions.
Dr. Patel lives and enjoys spending most of his time with family and friends at his home town in the outskirts of Atlanta, GA.

Dr. Friedman completed his undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University earning a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology and was inducted into the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He went on to earn his medical degree (MD) from the University of Maryland Medical School and he completed his Internal Medicine training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, and he is ABIM certified in Internal Medicine. He also successfully completed a fellowship in hematology oncology at the NIH/NCI/NHLBI. When not helping patients, Dr. Friedman enjoys spending time with his beautiful family including his wonderful wife and their five children.

Following graduation from Brandeis University, Dr. Miller attended medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. Wanting to gain a broad understanding of human health, Dr. Miller completed post graduate training in Internal Medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA followed by fellowship training in Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism also at Temple Hospital. Dr. Miller worked as an attending at Jefferson Health where he was known by his patients for his caring bedside manner and devoted patient care. In 2023 Dr. Miller and his family decided to move to Israel where he currently works as an endocrinologist. When not at work, Dr. Miller enjoys nature hikes, a long run, and spending time with his wife and 3 children.
